Benefits of Grief Counselling
Grief is not a single event, it is a process.
As you progress through your grief you will find that some days you are coping quite well and that on another day you are feeling overwhelmed with sadness. Although grief is a normal response to loss, there are times when help from a professional would be beneficial.
Some of the signs which indicate that grief counseling might help are:
-
Preoccupation with intense longing and yearning for your loved one
-
Profound loneliness
-
Unable to go on with your life
-
Difficulty performing ordinary tasks
-
Feeling that life has lost its meaning or that a part of you has died with your loved one
Loss comes in many forms
-
Death of a loved one
-
Miscarriage or still birth
-
Loss of relationship
-
Loss of a pet
-
Loss of a job
-
Loss of health or function
Grief Counseling offers the opportunity to talk about your experience of loss and grief to someone who is there for the sole purpose of listening to your story and to support you at a time when family and friends may be at a loss to know how to help.
Individual Grief Counseling
During individual counseling sessions you will have the opportunity to express your feelings and experiences after your loss. Grace uses compassionate understanding and deep listening to help you get in touch with the pain of your grief. Together we will explore ways to go on with your life and find new hope and meaning.
Grief Support Groups
You might find that a support group with other individuals who have also experienced loss meets your grieving needs more effectively. Grace’s extensive experience as a facilitator helps to create a safe, confidential environment where you can experience the support of others on a similar journey.

What To Expect In A Session
I will listen intently to your story and explore the reason that you are seeking counseling at this time. You and I will form a dynamic team of two. We will discover your existing strengths and resources. Together we will develop a plan that is uniquely tailored to your personality, goals and life circumstances. Although it is important to have the perspective of past life experiences, the main focus will be to move forward with your life in a positive way.
Each of us has a deep well of inner strength that can be drawn upon in difficult times. I am here to facilitate that process.
A Coach's Role
Most people see life as a fixed, permanent situation with no choice or control. With a coach you can receive an outside perspective and realize that you have many options regardless of circumstances.
Being able to check in with a wellness coach on a regular basis is like having a friend whose sole purpose is to help you succeed and achieve whatever target you have set. i
